CSU to host the 2026 National Sustainability Society Annual Conference

Colorado State University is slated to host the third annual conference of the National Sustainability Society from August 17-19 at the Spur campus in Denver.

This gathering, which is hosted in partnership with the School of Sustainable Futures (formerly School of Global Environmental Sustainability) and the CSU Climate Hub, will bring together hundreds of members of the leading professional society of sustainability researchers and practitioners in the U.S. and the world.

“As CSU’s interdisciplinary home for sustainability for over 15 years, the School of Sustainable Futures is proud to co-host a conference that calls us to act with courage, credibility and collective purpose,” School of Sustainable Futures Director Courtney Schultz said. “NSS brings together researchers, practitioners and educators who are shaping the next generation of sustainability solutions. We are excited to welcome this community to Colorado, showcase our work at CSU and across the state, and spark innovative collaborations that drive real-world impact.”

The theme of next year’s National Sustainability Society conference will be “Courage, Credibility and Collective Action in Sustainability.”

“The CSU Climate Hub is excited to partner with NSS to bring this dynamic and rapidly growing cross-sectoral community to CSU and Colorado,” said Veera Mitzner, the Director of the CSU Climate Hub at Spur. “The NSS offers an inclusive and trusted platform to seek credible, evidence-based insights that translate across research and practice. That work aligns with the Climate Hub’s focus on research impact and is also reflected in the conference theme.”

NSS President Dan Brown added: “As the third iteration of our successful conference series, the meeting in Denver is an opportunity for us to further grow our cross-sectoral and cross-disciplinary community of sustainability researchers, educators and professionals. CSU is an excellent partner for the meeting and we are excited about the Spur location. The strong community of sustainability professionals in the Denver area is a great draw for us.”
