National Sustainability Society 3rd Annual Conference

Overview

Colorado State University is thrilled to host the third annual conference of the National Sustainability Society (NSS) from August 17-19 at the Spur campus in Denver.

This gathering, which is hosted in partnership with the School of Global Environmental Sustainability (SoGES) and the CSU Climate Hub, will bring together hundreds of members of the leading professional society of sustainability researchers and practitioners in the U.S. and the world.

The theme of the 2026 NSS conference is:

Courage, Credibility and Collective Action in Sustainability

Progress in sustainability requires us, as a community, to stand together with courage to credibly advance science and solutions. Yet key challenges to this collaborative effort persist, including growing distrust in science, climate change denial, greenwashing and brownwashing, restrictions on data accessibility and academic freedom, the amplification of misinformation through social media and bots, and increasingly complex social and political landscapes.

This moment calls for a different kind of response.

Event Description

The 3rd Annual NSS Conference will champion evidence-based research, innovative and accessible solutions, and the persistence and preparation essential to building a hopeful and resilient future.

The call for contributions is open until March 31st. If you are interested in shaping this incredible conference, please see more details here. NSS considers contributions that showcase scholarship on sustainability topics and feature case studies, best practices, collaborative interdisciplinary or cross-sectoral projects, or other works that connect to the NSS conference themes.
